How did this happen?
And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck.
Jesus the Christ – Mark 9:42 (NIV)
In our sinful surrender to the secular state, we lost the passion of Christ to protect the little ones from decades of godlessness. This millstone of godlessness about our social necks now drags us down into the sea of cultural, political, and economical decadence. We are reaping what we have sown, but there is hope if we repent.
“The philosophy of the classroom in one generation will become the philosophy of government in the next.” Abraham Lincoln
We have ignored significant evangelistic opportunities because our sound-bite theologies have blinded us in truncated spirituality and carnality. This has resulted in an increased godless secular state with more people operating in godlessness.
Statistics:
Barna Research organization once reported that 81% of kids in high school go to church and 61% of them leave the church in their twenties (college years). This means that 75% of church kids will turn away from Christianity. The latest research shows that middle and high school students are rejecting their faith and that college simply provides a lifestyle change opportunity.
The Southern Baptist Convention did a self-study and found that 88% of youth from SBC homes deny their faith before they graduate from college. Dr. Steve Henderson, president of Christian Consulting for Colleges and Ministries, Inc., projects that “at least half and possibly over two-thirds of our kids will step away from their faith while attending non-Christian colleges and universities.” The latest research by Britt Beemer of America’s Research Group however shows that most (89%) have begun to walk away from their faith by the time they entered college. Entering college was simply a lifestyle change that made leaving church so much easier.
