If my people, …turn from their wicked ways, then will I …heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.
But why does God’s people need to repent? Evangelicals doubt that God is really talking to them from 2 Chronicles 7:14. Surely, the public sins of atheists, humanists, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, PAW, NEA, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Hollywood, and liberal judges are worse than our private sins. If secularists repent, our land will heal. Nothing could be more clearly understood. Right?
Unfortunately, our common ignorance of our sacred rebellion has given birth to the secularists. (Click Sacred Rebellion – a FREE 273 page book to download the specifics. File size is 3.2 MB. It may take a minute for a slow connection. Please wait even though you may see “Done.”)
Our private sins affect our own children. Our public sins affect all other children. It is the reason why so many secularists exist. We have ignored God’s command to establish “justice in the gate” (Amos 5:15 KJV/NIV) and have abandoned public policy and public education to the secularists and their evangelism. We have failed to disciple and train our youth in apologetics and then wonder why we lose many to the secularists. We say “People are going to believe whatever they want to believe despite the evidence, ”because we believe apologetic evangelism has limited spiritual impact.” And this is despite the biblical fact that Apollos “mightily convinced the Jews that Jesus was Christ” (Acts 18:28) We then willfully ignore Peter’s admonition to “always be ready to give an answer.” (1 Peter 3:15) We specialize in our nurturing ministries and then mistakenly believe our truncated spiritualities are fully pleasing to God as we bask in our intellectual mediocrity. Do we really love God with all our minds? (Matthew 22:37) We say “We’re living in the last days,” but fail to realize we are living in the last days accelerated because of our apathies and surrender to the godless. Can the social results of an inconsistent and partly apathetic Church be any different from a Church that is raptured out of society? We say that “God’s in control,” and then mistakenly believe things are as God designed it and forget that God requires us to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Luke 11:2) God’s will on earth is thus not a default. We must pray for it and be continually sensitive to implement it. We say to ourselves, “Why should we pray for God’s will? God’s will happens anyway.
How can God be in control when many evangelicals are out of His control?
Yet the uncomfortable facts of our public-policy apathies, from public education to representation, evangelicals have ignorantly planted the seeds for godlessness from school shootings to judicial tyranny with loss of Christian liberties. We are just beginning to reap what we have sowed for decades.
“They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval.” God via Hosea 8:4a (NIV) to the godless northern nation of Israel and secular America.
“Woe to the obstinate children, declares the Lord, to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;” Isaiah 30:1 (NIV)
